Concrete Driveway Cost (2026): Prices by Size
Installed driveway prices by size, the upgrades that change the bill, and how to compare quotes.
A concrete driveway costs $8–$18 per square foot installed in 2026. A standard two-car driveway (around 20×20) typically lands between $3,200 and $7,200; long or multi-car layouts climb from there. Driveways price higher than patios because they're poured thicker (5–6″), carry reinforcement, and need a properly compacted base to survive vehicles.
The table below shows common driveway footprints with the concrete required and typical installed ranges, each linking to a pre-filled calculator.

Thickness and reinforcement
5″ is the floor for cars; 6″ with rebar for trucks and RVs. The extra inch is cheap insurance: a cracked under-built driveway costs far more to replace than to thicken.
Demolition and excavation
Removing an old driveway adds $1–$3+/sq ft before any new concrete is poured. Sloped lots and bad soil add base work.
Finish and extras
Exposed aggregate, stamping, or coloring add $2–$8/sq ft. Aprons, turnarounds, and thickened edges add area and detail work that shows up in quotes.
Climate
Freeze-thaw regions need air-entrained mix, joints cut on time, and good drainage, corners that cheap bids tend to skip.
Common questions
How much does a concrete driveway cost in 2026?
Most installed driveways run $8–$18 per square foot. A 20x20 two-car pad is roughly $3,200–$7,200; a 20x40 double-length runs $6,400–$14,400. Region, thickness, and finish set where you land in the range.
Concrete vs asphalt driveway cost?
Asphalt installs cheaper up front but needs sealing every few years and earlier replacement. Concrete costs more on day one and usually less per year of service, and it handles summer heat without rutting.
How long does a concrete driveway last?
30+ years when poured at proper thickness over a compacted base with control joints and decent drainage. The cheapest bid usually shaves exactly those items.
