Concrete Patio Cost (2026): Prices by Size

Installed patio prices by size, finish upgrades, and where the money actually goes.

A poured concrete patio costs $8–$16 per square foot installed in 2026. A 12×16 dining patio typically lands between $1,500 and $3,100 with a broom finish; stamped and colored finishes push toward and past the top of the range.

You've got the volume and a ballpark cost. The next step is real numbers: compare free, no-obligation quotes from licensed concrete contractors in your area for your patio.

Finish

Broom finish is the baseline. Stamped patterns, integral color, or exposed aggregate add $3–$10/sq ft. On a patio, finish is the single biggest price lever you control.

Size and access

Small pours carry minimum charges (a short-load fee from the ready-mix supplier, or a full day's crew for a half-day job). Backyards a truck can't reach need pumping or wheelbarrows, both of which cost.

Base and drainage

A patio that sheds water away from the house needs grading and a compacted gravel base. Skipping it is how patios crack and settle toward foundations.

Curves and steps

Curved forms, borders, and a step down to grade all add forming labor that flat rectangles don't have.

Common questions

How much does a concrete patio cost?

Most installed patios run $8–$16 per square foot in 2026. A 12x16 patio is roughly $1,500–$3,100; a 20x20 entertaining patio $3,200–$6,400. Fancy finishes can push past these ranges.

Is a concrete patio cheaper than pavers?

Usually yes: pavers typically install at $10–$25/sq ft. Stamped concrete can mimic pavers at lower cost, though repairs are easier with pavers (lift and relay) than with a monolithic slab.

Can I pour a patio myself?

A small pad at ground level is one of the friendlier DIY pours: about 2.4 cubic yards for a 12x16 at 4 inches. Get help for the finishing window: concrete sets on its schedule, not yours.
